My Digital Marketing Training Experience at Jelly Academy

I contacted the initial digital marketing agency that I chose for a part of my digital training  deliverables in a Digital Transformation Project that I’m enrolled in to boost my business visibility. Unfortunately, all slots were filled for summer.  

Then I began searching online for any training organizations based in Canada with immediate availability, where I can sign-up asap. My research efforts on a Thursday in March led me to Jelly Academy’s 6-Week Digital Marketing Bootcamp advertised online. The major attraction to this program was the fact anyone can apply regardless of previous experience - no prerequisite requirements. Just bring your positive self and learning attitude to class every week.

Jelly Academy, located in Fort Langley, British Columbia, offers various digital marketing skills  and Training. Here is all you need to know about Jelly Academy’s 6-week Digital Marketing Bootcamp: the course covers 6 key areas of Digital marketing and PR. Sessions include Social Media, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Google Ads, Facebook & Instagram Ads, Google Analytics, and Public Relations. The course is taught live, online, and over zoom. 

Other benefits of taking this training are flexibility and accessibility - I love that students can access over 20 hours of video lessons and other training materials. This training arrangement  was a perfect fit for me. 

The only issue with the course was that it was way above my budget. However, another miracle was added to my experience in the month of March 2022 - a scholarship for Women and the BIPOC community! Woohoo!!!

My Bootcamp Experience

Prior to resuming class, I received an email advising that a shipment from Jelly Academy was arriving. I wasn’t sure of what it was, how large, heavy, small, or light the package was going to be until I received it. It was yet another thoughtful gesture from the Academy. You will find the unboxing video I made here. Was I impressed? For sure I was! This gesture impressed me and captured something profound in an impactful way. I learnt something from that. That is thoughtfulness and at the same time, strategic.  

It is quite impressive to think about the efforts that Jelly Academy and its team put into boxing of various learning aids, including customized gifts from the academy and its corporate sponsors, to mailing each box out to all participants across Canada. According to Jack Welch, “An organization's ability to learn, and translate that learning into action rapidly, is the ultimate competitive advantage.”

I began class on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2022, at 1pm ADT for the first session on Facebook + Instagram Ads. Here, I learnt about various Facebook ad templates that business owners or teams  can use to reach the right audience at various times or seasons in the business. We covered how to create Facebook ads, target your audience and use retargeting to help grow your business and share ads on other social media pages. Ultimately, it's important to know what these are so that you can make sure that you're creating an effective campaign for yourself. 

Overall, the six weeks bootcamp introduced me to various aspects of Search Engine  Optimization, Google Analytics, SMART Marketing Goals planning and Public Relations. The  highlight of the Bootcamp sessions was learning how any business can use SEO to their  advantage by ranking higher in views and action. I also had an opportunity through class  participation in real-time to watch the performance of my website based on search, views, and  user geography. 

The takeaway here is that digital marketing analytics can generate data which help business owners  to understand behaviours of the real versus look-alike audience and how well to target such behaviours for the purpose of conversion and retention.  

First off, you can get your website to rank higher in search results so more people will find it  online. You'll also learn how to track results and see what's working for you. You can even use  this data to improve your site over time! 

After each class, the course coordinator, Chris Penner, sends us an email based on the training and materials that aid learning.

Thanks Jelly Academy for awarding me a scholarship to be able to enroll in your 6-weeks Digital Marketing Bootcamp, and for making the last six weeks journey to skill acquisition and  entrepreneurship insightful, engaging, and practical for me.  

Now I am ready to start implementing most of the key lessons and ideas I gained from the  program, and in the future fulfill my desire to make a change through this medium. 

I am not there yet, but my goal is to continue to learn about tools and software that I need to  enhance my business digital marketing strategy and increase my knowledge as a subject matter expert in SEO, Google Analytics and Social Media Advertising.
