    B.C. based Indigenous marketer Darian Kovacs founded Jelly Academy with a twofold goal: to make Canadian education more accessible to underrepresented groups and to equip the nation’s talent pool with the digital skills that were becoming increasingly in demand.

    COVID-19 Hits

    Jelly Academy rapidly adapts to the new era of COVID-19, transitioning in-person courses into remote and flexible formats without compromising student enjoyment and engagement.

  • 2021

    Launch of the Scholarship: Women in Digital

    Jelly Academy partner Sarah Clark spearheads the Women in Digital Scholarship, designed to support women aiming to excel in technical roles within digital marketing. Read more here.

    Indigenous scholarships: The Inclusion

    Jelly Academy awards 45 scholarships to Indigenous recipients to dismantle the common educational barriers Indigenous students face when pursuing workforce entry. Read more here.

    Award Season and Nationwide Surveys

    Jelly Academy is named a finalist for BC Tech Association’s Technology Impact Awards for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

    Jelly Academy conducts a nationwide survey with Innovate BC to gather data on how hiring practices and DEI policies changed in the past two years due to external factors like the global pandemic.

    Continuous Growth and Recognition

    As of March 2023, 55% of Jelly Academy’s graduates have been Indigenous—a 37.5% increase from the previous year.

    Jelly Academy and Career Education Society team up to make the Digital Marketing Bootcamp available to B.C. secondary students via Workforce Training Certifications.

    Jelly Academy and Vista Virtual Schools team up to make the Digital Marketing Bootcamp available to Alberta secondary students via Career and Technology Studies.

    Jelly Academy is recognized in the House of Commons and praised by Brenda Bailey, Minister of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation, for their excellent digital marketing programming and diverse student subsidizing.
